Objectives and Functions
The operational framework of the ICC revolves around three core areas:
-
Prevention: The committee proactively works to prevent misconduct by organizing regular gender-sensitization programs, seminars, and interactive workshops for both students and staff. These initiatives aim to educate the college community about boundary definitions, statutory rights, and civil conduct.
-
Prohibition: Clear guidelines and codes of conduct are prominently displayed across the college campus to emphasize the strict prohibition of any unwelcome gender-oriented behavior.
-
Redressal: The committee is legally bound to provide a time-bound, highly confidential, and sensitive mechanism for addressing formal complaints. It strictly adheres to the principles of natural justice, ensuring that both the complainant and the respondent are granted a fair hearing.
Complaint Redressal Procedure
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Calcutta Girls' B.T. College follows a transparent and confidential process for addressing complaints of sexual harassment. Upon receiving a written complaint, the committee assesses its admissibility, facilitates conciliation if requested by the complainant, and, when necessary, conducts a formal inquiry by examining evidence and recording statements.
Based on its findings, the ICC submits recommendations to the Principal and Governing Body for appropriate action. Committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment, the committee works diligently to uphold the dignity, well-being, and rights of all members of the college community.
