The Eco-Club in our College plays a vital role in promoting environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and social responsibility among future educators in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The club primarily focuses on creating ecological consciousness among teacher trainees and encouraging them to become responsible citizens and educators who actively contribute towards sustainable development.
The objectives of the Eco-Club include spreading awareness about environmental conservation, climate action, biodiversity protection, waste management, water conservation, and sustainable lifestyles, thereby supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
The planning of Eco-Club activities is carried out systematically under the guidance of faculty coordinators and student representatives. An annual action plan is prepared at the beginning of the academic session with activities centered around environmental sustainability and the observance of important international and national environmental days.
The club aims to integrate environmental education with practical learning experiences so that teacher trainees can understand the importance of sustainable practices and later implement them effectively in their future teaching careers. Collaborations with local communities, environmental organizations, and awareness campaigns are also encouraged to strengthen outreach and community participation.
The execution of Eco-Club programs involves active participation from students and teachers through activities such as tree plantation drives, campus cleanliness campaigns, waste segregation initiatives, recycling projects, seminars, workshops, poster competitions, awareness rallies, and eco-friendly campus development programs.
These activities help in developing leadership, teamwork, creativity, and environmental ethics among teacher trainees. By integrating SDG-oriented initiatives into its activities, the Eco-Club not only promotes a greener campus but also prepares future educators to foster sustainable values and environmental responsibility among the younger generation for a better and more sustainable future.
