NSS Unit, Calcutta Girls' B.T. College

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Calcutta Girls' B.T. College serves as a platform for nurturing socially responsible and community-oriented future teachers. Guided by the motto "Not Me But You," the Unit promotes active citizenship through innovative and meaningful community engagement.

In accordance with NSS guidelines, the Unit has adopted a village and regularly conducts outreach activities focusing on literacy, health, sanitation, environmental sustainability, and social awareness. Through direct interaction with villagers, students gain practical experience in community development and social service.

The NSS Unit celebrates important occasions such as World Environment Day, Earth Day, and Independence Day through eco-friendly initiatives, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, awareness rallies, and cultural programmes.

Innovative awareness campaigns on anti-dowry practices, dengue prevention, thalassemia, and various public health issues are conducted through street plays, poster exhibitions, interactive sessions, and community surveys. These activities help students understand social concerns while encouraging active participation in community welfare.

To encourage intellectual growth and leadership, NSS volunteers actively participate in quizzes, debates, seminars, and youth development programmes. These activities enhance communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership qualities, and civic responsibility among students.

Through its diverse initiatives, the NSS Unit successfully integrates education with community service, fostering empathy, leadership, environmental consciousness, and a lifelong commitment to nation-building.
