Our college organizes the Smt. Namita Sen Memorial Annual Debate Competition and the Smt. Jyotsna Biswas Memorial Annual Quiz Competition every year during the months of January or February with the objective of promoting intellectual growth, communication skills, critical thinking, and general awareness among students.
The competitions witness enthusiastic participation from students of different departments who actively engage in both academic and co-curricular activities. In the debate competition, participants present their arguments on contemporary social, educational, and national issues, speaking either in favour of or against the given topic, while the quiz competition consists of multiple rounds based on current affairs, literature, science, history, sports, and general knowledge.
The events are organized by the college authorities with the active support of faculty members and student volunteers, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and academic excellence on the campus. Distinguished teachers and invited judges evaluate the performances on the basis of knowledge, presentation, confidence, clarity of expression, and analytical ability.
These competitions help students enhance their public speaking skills, teamwork, confidence, and presence of mind while also encouraging active learning beyond the classroom.
The prize distribution ceremony is generally held during the Annual Social programme of the college, organized approximately two weeks after the competitions, where winners and outstanding participants are awarded trophies, certificates, and prizes in the presence of the Principal, faculty members, students, and guests.
The Smt. Namita Sen Memorial Annual Debate Competition and the Smt. Jyotsna Biswas Memorial Annual Quiz Competition have thus become significant annual traditions of the college, contributing greatly to the overall personality development and academic enrichment of students every year.
